Firstly I would like to know, how did a feeling of the presence of an omnipotent being come into existence among the humans? On what basis was such claim made and the thought injected into the society? Partially I’d answer this myself; it was the fear and lack of understanding of actions of nature among our forefathers that made existence of an “omnipotent” being necessary for the humans to survive. But since today science is helping us answer those natures phenomenon, do we still need to put faith in that invisible being? Has years of evolution changed nothing?
Further I would ask, if the “Omnipotence” of god was to be established; then why do we have so many people worshipping so many gods? Here we stand facing a paradox. If existence of god is confirmed, then how can so many beings be “The Ultimate Power”?
With those questions left unanswered let us assume the existence of god. He is supposed to be the creator of this world, this universe. He has the ultimate power to make, modify or destroy his creation. So then why is human or any other organism suffering? Is he not supposed to create a perfect world? Why do we still see rains of tears and floods of blood? Why there exists anything called as “The Holy War”? Why do humans have to go to war for the gods, when the all-powerful god can fix anything he created?
This thought s often countered with an argument involving balance of good and evil; the notion of “Karma”. But again why does the world evil when it can all be MADE good? Does god not have the power to do so? If he doesn’t, how is his “Omnipotence” justified? If he is indeed omnipotent and yet refrains from using his power for betterment then is he not, as Mr. Bhagat Singh has rightly stated, a roman emperor enjoying a fight of gladiators?
The last question, which involves existence of my train of thought is, why did he give humans an option to not believe in him? Simplified, why did he create atheists? Isn’t the thought of infidelity the ultimate blotch on his empire of followers? Aren’t we the only anarchists opposing his supreme reign? Then why do we exist? Out of our own vanity? If a feeling of being superior to god or being the god himself dominates us, then that doesn’t make us atheists at all. Because in that thought we admit to the existence of an ultimate being.
Then why do we still stand? Why do we grow in numbers? Why is he not striking down the anomaly he created?
